Single-core PVC cable – versatile application and compliance with standards
This single-core PVC cable, designated as H05V2-K 1/AWG18, is a universal solution for internal wiring. It is suitable for both industrial installations and electrical devices. Its construction and approvals make it particularly useful in export applications, including machine tools.
This cable complies with as many as five standards: DIN VDE 0285-525-2-31, DIN EN 50525-2-31, UL-Std.1063, UL-Style 10269 (also Style 1015) and CSA-TEW and CSA-AWM I A/B. Such a wide range of approvals allows for economical inventory management and simplification of the bill of materials – one cable meets the requirements of many standards.
Construction and user parameters
The cable is made of multi-strand copper conductor class 5 (DIN VDE 0295/IEC 60228/UL Std. 758), insulated with special PVC type TI3 (DIN VDE 0207-363-3/DIN EN 50363-3 and UL-Std. 1581, CSA-C 22.2 nr 210 tab. 12 cl. H). The conductor is not tinned. The jacket color is a characteristic yellow-green, making it easy to identify as a protective conductor. The conductor cross-section is 1 mm², corresponding to AWG 18. The operating voltage is 300/500V, and the test voltage is from 2kV to 6kV depending on the cross-section.
The cable maintains flexibility over a wide temperature range – from +5°C to +90°C during operation and from -40°C to +90°C stationary. It also meets UL (AWM) requirements up to +105°C and CSA (TEW) up to +105°C, and UL (MTW) up to +90°C, which proves its reliability in various working conditions. The minimum bending radius depends on the cable diameter and is from 4x the diameter for cables with a diameter below 8mm to 6x the diameter for cables above 12mm.
Applications and safety
The cable is used primarily in internal wiring of distribution boards and electrical devices. Thanks to HAR, UL-AWM, UL-MTW, CSA-AWM and CSA-Equipment-wire approvals, it is ideal for applications requiring compliance with strict safety standards. The materials used in production do not contain silicone, cadmium or substances hindering painting, which further increases its versatility and safety. The cable has passed flame propagation tests according to DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2 / DIN EN 60332-1-2 / IEC 60332-1-2 / UL VW-1 and CSA FT1 standards.
