Safety and efficiency in a compact housing

The SafePLATE LB31SP-50-1" heat exchanger is a device designed for applications where not only efficient heat transfer but primarily the safety of the installation operation is critical. Its unique feature is a system of double walls connected with a special slot on the side surface of the casing. Thanks to this solution, in the event of potential damage to the internal plates (e.g., due to corrosion or pressure surge), fluids from both circuits will not mix. Instead, a leak will be immediately detected visually through the inspection opening, allowing for a quick response and minimization of the risk of failure of the entire heating or cooling system.

The construction based on 50 plates made of stainless steel ensures high corrosion resistance and the ability to operate in extreme thermal and pressure conditions. The device easily handles temperatures reaching 230 °C and a working pressure of up to 30 bar. Optimally shaped flow channels allow achieving an excellent balance between high heat exchange efficiency and low flow resistance, which translates into lower energy consumption by circulation pumps. At the same time, such channel shape prevents the deposition of impurities, which is crucial when working with water of varying hardness.

Application and installation

The device will work perfectly in installations requiring compact solutions with high thermal power, such as:

  • Central heating and domestic hot water (C.W.U.) systems
  • Industrial installations requiring process cooling or heating
  • Heat pumps as a source of heat or cooling
  • Heat recovery systems

Installation is simplified thanks to the use of threaded connections with a nominal diameter of 1 inch (DN25) on both the primary and secondary sides. All four nozzles are made with external thread, which facilitates integration with traditional pipe installations. The device dimensions (height 286 mm, width 123 mm) allow for its installation even in limited technical space. It is worth remembering that this model is adapted for installation in a dedicated insulation jacket, which additionally improves the energy efficiency of the system and protects against heat loss to the surroundings.

Construction and operating conditions

The technical details of this model result directly from its purpose and material of manufacture. The heart of the device consists of 50 plates made of stainless steel, brazed with copper in a vacuum furnace – this process guarantees a permanent bond of elements and tightness even with cyclic changes in parameters. Thanks to this, the construction exhibits high resistance to material fatigue caused by temperature fluctuations (from -195 °C to +230 °C) and pressure (up to 30 bar).

Media flow occurs through optimally shaped channels, which minimize hydraulic resistance while maintaining a large heat exchange surface (approx. 0.031 m²). Connections on both sides have a diameter of 1 inch (DN25) and are made as external thread, which standardly facilitates the connection of steel or copper pipes without the need for additional reductions. The whole fits in a compact casing with dimensions of 286 mm height and 123 mm width, and the special SafePLATE system with double walls constitutes an additional safety barrier against fluid mixing in case of failure of internal elements.
