DN20 Bronze 3-way diverting valve
The DN20 3-way diverting valve is a key component of control systems in heating and cooling installations. Its versatility allows for two primary functions: diverting the medium flow between different heat loads and mixing for precise control of the supply temperature.
Construction and materials ensuring long-term operation
The valve body is made of corrosion-resistant bronze, guaranteeing reliability in the humid environments typical of heating installations. The stainless steel stem is equipped with a double O-ring sealing system, where the outer ring can be replaced without the need to drain the entire installation - significantly facilitating maintenance work.
All components in contact with the medium are made of materials resistant to standard heating fluids:
- O-rings and valve plug made of EPDM rubber,
- Return spring made of stainless steel,
- Valve insert made of brass.
Operating parameters and system compatibility
The device operates in a temperature range of 2-120°C (up to 100°C when fitted with an actuator or protective cap) at a maximum working pressure of PN10. A Kvs value of 3.48 ensures optimal flow characteristics for the DN20 nominal diameter.
The allowable differential pressure drop is 0.75 bar, enabling trouble-free operation in most typical heating installations. G1" threaded connections allow for installation using threaded or brazed nipples - providing installation flexibility that is particularly important during the modernization of existing systems.
The valve is compatible with the entire range of IMI HEIMEIER controllers:
- M30x1.5 thermostatic heads for proportional control,
- EMO T actuators for two-point control,
- TA-Slider 160 and EMO 3/230 actuators for three-point applications.
Diverting and mixing functions in practice
In the diverting function, the valve performs excellently when switching between heat sources - e.g., gas boiler ↔ solid fuel boiler or heat pump ↔ solar collector. It equally effectively diverts the flow between different consumers, such as central heating circuit ↔ domestic hot water heater.
The mixing function is used for:
- Regulating supply air temperature downstream of heaters,
- Maintaining a constant supply temperature for heat exchangers,
- Controlling the capacity of fan units (fan coils, fan heaters),
- Stabilizing the operating parameters of domestic hot water heaters.
Overall dimensions (71×35.5×31mm) and a mass of approximately 0.56 kg.
