Insulation for STAF valves DN 65 52189865

Application and Function of Thermal Insulation

The primary task of this accessory is to effectively limit energy losses in installations where STAF balancing valves with a nominal diameter of DN 65 are mounted. The product is used for thermal insulation in heating, cooling systems, and domestic hot water installations. Thanks to the use of a material with a low thermal conductivity coefficient, the insulation minimizes unwanted heat exchange between the medium and the environment. This is crucial for maintaining stable operating parameters of the system, regardless of whether it operates with heated or cooled water.

It is worth noting that the insulation has been designed to perfectly match the specific geometry of STAF valves (including STAF-SG and STAF-R versions). This is not a universal "pipe" for every valve, but a dedicated solution for a specific type of fitting. As a result, installation is precise, and the tightness of the insulation layer is ensured around the entire circumference of the regulating element.

Material and Technical Properties

The core of the construction is CFC-free polyurethane, making it an environmentally friendly solution compliant with modern ecological standards. This material is characterized by a density in the range of 50–60 kg/m³ and very low porosity (below 12%), which translates into high mechanical strength and resistance to damage during transport or installation.

Thermal efficiency is ensured by a low thermal conductivity coefficient of 0.028 W/mK at a temperature of 50°C, meaning it provides an excellent barrier against energy flow. The material also exhibits high moisture resistance – water absorption does not exceed 2% at 20°C, ensuring that the insulation layer does not become saturated even in case of contact with water or high air humidity. The operating temperature range typically covers +12°C to +120°C; under specific conditions with appropriate sealing, the lower limit can be reduced to -8°C, and the upper limit for short-term operation can reach up to +140°C. The outer surface is covered with gray PVC, which not only gives the product an aesthetic appearance suitable for most industrial and building installations but, above all, protects the polyurethane layer from mechanical damage and UV radiation.

Fire Safety and Standards

In technical installations, fire safety is a priority. The insulation shells have been tested according to the German standard DIN 4102 and classified in class B2 (flame-retardant). This means that the material does not spread fire on its own after the ignition source is removed, which is required in many public facilities and industrial halls.

For installers, ease of installation is also important – the insulation allows for quick fitting onto the valve without the need for additional adhesives or complex mounting systems in the standard configuration. This reduces on-site working time, and the final result is aesthetic and functional immediately after the first installation. The product is intended exclusively for STAF valves with a diameter of DN 65, guaranteeing perfect dimensional fit without the need for cutting or modifications at the installation site.
