Inox bypass - 18 1609178001
Stainless steel bypass with two connection types
The fitting is made of austenitic stainless steel 1.4404, designed for installation in press systems. It features one crimp socket connection and one push-fit socket connection, both compatible with an external pipe diameter of 18 mm. The total length is 165 mm, of which 145 mm is the working section—the area where the pipe is crimped to form a leak-tight joint.
The LBP (Leak Before Press) controlled leak function provides an additional safety layer: if the crimping is not performed correctly, a small amount of medium escapes externally, giving the installer an immediate signal that something is wrong. There is no need to guess whether the connection is good—it is physically visible.
Installation and Applications
Connections are made using standard "M" type crimping tools, without the need for welding, threading, or screwing. This significantly speeds up installation—especially when working in hard-to-reach areas. The pipe does not require precise cleaning before crimping, and the connection maintains leak-tightness even under cyclic temperature and pressure changes.
Applications of the bypass include:
- hot and cold domestic water installations (only with steel 1.4404),
- central heating systems,
- fire protection systems,
- compressed air networks,
- heat pump and chilled water circuits,
- industrial installations with aggressive media.
No additional gaskets or pastes are required—leak-tightness is achieved through metal deformation under pressure. This also means the connection does not age like elastomers.
Why It Works?
Steel 1.4404 offers better resistance to the corrosive effects of chlorides and acids than 1.4301, which is why it is approved for potable water. Its thin-walled construction (typical of the KAN-therm Inox system) reduces weight by over 30% compared to traditional copper pipes, while maintaining pressure resistance up to 16 bar and operating temperatures from -35°C to 135°C.
The "press" connection does not restrict flow—the internal cross-section remains almost identical to that of the pipe. This results in lower pressure losses, reduced pump requirements, and more stable operation of the entire system.
There is no need to worry about corrosion under insulation or electrochemical reactions between different metals—stainless steel does not react with copper or plastics. It can be safely connected to other KAN-therm Press or Push components.
