Slip coupling Steel - 66.7 1509080014
Application and Function in Steel Installations
The sliding coupling with a diameter of 66.7 mm is a key component in steel piping systems where length adjustment of a pipe section or compensation for minor assembly misalignments is required. Thanks to its design, this product not only connects two pipe sections but also allows them to slide freely along the axis before pressing. This is particularly useful during installation work when the distance between mounting points must be perfectly matched without the need to cut the pipe to the millimeter.
The component is made of galvanized steel (Fe/Zn88), ensuring corrosion resistance under standard operating conditions. The zinc coating thickness ranges from 8 to 15 µm, which is sufficient for most indoor and outdoor installations protected from direct contact with aggressive atmospheric factors. The entire system is based on the pressing method, eliminating the need for welding or threading, which significantly accelerates installation and reduces the risk of human error.
Construction and LBP Sealing Mechanism
The key feature of this fitting is the application of the Leaking Before Pressure (LBP) technology. Inside the coupling, an O-ring seal ensures tightness of the connection even before full pressing is completed. This allows the installer to check the system's tightness under test pressure at the assembly stage, before the final locking of the connection. If the seal is not properly seated or the pipe is not fully inserted, the system will detect this through a slight leak, enabling immediate correction without the risk of failure under load.
The geometric dimensions are precisely matched to pipes with an outer diameter of 66.7 mm, ensuring the stability of the entire assembly. The total length of the component is 198 mm, providing sufficient contact surface for a stable connection. On each side, the coupling covers the pipe ends to a depth of 99 mm – this symmetry ensures even distribution of forces during pressing. The simple shape makes the fitting ideal for connecting pipes in a straight line or as an adjustment element in challenging field conditions. Thanks to these dimensions, the coupling guarantees full engagement of the pipe by the pressing head and requires adequate space for installation in shafts or ducts. The core material is galvanized steel, providing mechanical and corrosion resistance without the need for additional anti-corrosion insulation under typical operating conditions.
Installation and System Compatibility
The installation process is simple and repeatable thanks to dedicated pressing heads designed for the KAN-therm Steel system. The installer inserts the pipe ends into the coupling until they stop (or according to the depth marking), then uses a hydraulic or battery-powered press. After pressing, the connection becomes permanent and irreversible without damaging the fitting. The LBP function acts as an additional safety filter – if the O-ring seal is not properly compressed during the pressing process, a visible leak of water or air will occur during the tightness test, signaling the need to redo the connection.
This product is primarily used in installations for:
- Hot domestic water (HDW) and cold drinking water (CDW).
- Heating systems (underfloor heating, radiator heating).
- Industrial installations transporting non-aggressive liquids for galvanized steel.
It is worth noting that despite the solid steel construction, this coupling requires protection against direct contact with rainwater or condensate moisture in areas exposed to continuous atmospheric corrosion – in such cases, additional protective painting or insulation may be necessary in accordance with the building regulations of the specific facility. Thanks to precise dimensions and the repeatability of the pressing process, the installation time for a single connection is significantly shorter than with traditional welding or threaded methods.
