Self-drilling screw for thin sheets 4,2x19mm
The Koelner WFS-4219 self-drilling screw is a specialized fastener designed for the durable joining of elements made of thin steel sheets, PVC profiles, and structural timber. With a diameter of 4,2 mm and a length of 19 mm, it ensures an optimal balance between connection strength and ease of installation.
Construction and materials
Made of surface-hardened low-carbon steel, which guarantees high mechanical strength while maintaining core flexibility. The thread surface is heat-hardened, significantly increasing wear resistance and extending the service life of the connection. A zinc coating with a minimum thickness of 12 µm effectively protects against corrosion even in humid outdoor environments.
The flat head with a diameter of 4,2 mm ensures an aesthetic surface finish and even pressure on the fastened element. The special shape of the drilling tip eliminates the need for pre-drilling pilot holes.
Operating parameters and compatibility
The product meets the requirements of the PN-EN 14566 + A1:2012 standard and has an A1 fire reaction classification (non-combustible material). The maximum thickness of the fastened element is 4 mm, while the maximum drilling thickness is 2,5 mm. The minimum embedment depth in structural timber is 20 mm.
Required minimum substrate thicknesses vary depending on the material:
- PVC profiles - minimum 3 mm thickness
- Steel sheet - minimum 0,75 mm thickness
- Structural timber - minimum standard density for load-bearing elements
Installation recommendations
Installation should be carried out at a right angle (90°) to the substrate surface using a PH2 magnetic bit. Recommended drill speeds are in the range of 1600-2000 rpm with adjustable torque or a depth limiter.
Start assembly at low speeds (1600-2000 rpm), gradually decreasing them during the final tightening phase. Critically important: do not use standard drills or high-power tools - this may lead to thread overloading or damage to the material of the fastened element.
Practical applications
Main areas of application include:
- Fastening galvanized steel structural elements to steel profiles or wooden load-bearing beams
- Mounting finishing strips and PVC cladding to metal or wooden substrates
- Joining thin metal sheets to metal surfaces
- Fastening thin wooden boards to metal or wooden substrates
Standardly available in packs of 500 pieces (EAN code: 5906675308425).
