The WFS-4225 self-drilling screw by Koelner is a specialized fastening element designed specifically for joining thin steel sheets and PVC profiles. Thanks to its innovative tip geometry, it enables fast and precise drilling without the need for prior hole preparation.

Construction and materials

The core is made of hardened steel, which guarantees high resistance to shearing during assembly. The surface is coated with electrogalvanized zinc with a minimum thickness of 5 micrometers, providing effective corrosion protection even in humid operating conditions. The flat head is integrated with a washer, which significantly increases resistance to head pull-through and allows for perfect flush mounting with the surface of the fastened element.

Operating parameters and compatibility

The screw with a diameter of 4,2 mm and a length of 25 mm allows for fastening elements with a maximum thickness of up to 10 mm, while simultaneously enabling the drilling of holes with a diameter of up to 2,5 mm. The minimum required substrate thickness is 0,75 mm for steel and 3 mm for PVC profiles, respectively. The special self-tapping thread enables efficient fastening to both wooden and metal structures.

Applications in roofing and construction works

The element finds wide application in the installation of roofing sheets up to 10 mm thick and facade panels made of thin metal sheets. It also proves effective when fastening finishing strips and decorative plastic profiles. It is particularly efficient in connections requiring precise surface flushing.

Installation recommendations

For correct installation, a magnetic bit and a screwdriver with torque adjustment are required. Recommended operating speeds range from 1600 to 2000 rpm - starting from low speeds and reducing them towards the end of the assembly process. It is crucial to maintain perpendicularity to the substrate throughout the entire driving process.

The screw meets the requirements of the PN-EN 14566+A1:2012 standard and has a Declaration of Performance DoP-EN14566-WFS. It is characterized by a fire reaction of class A1 - the highest level of non-combustibility for construction materials according to the European classification.
