Professional insulation resistance meter for electrical installations

KEW3551 is a digital insulation resistance meter designed for fast installation and control measurements in low-voltage installations. The device enables a comprehensive assessment of the insulation condition of wires and electrical devices.

Measurement functionality and technical parameters

The meter offers insulation resistance measurement at six test voltages: 50 V, 100 V, 125 V, 250 V, 500 V and 1000 V, with maximum ranges reaching up to 4000 MΩ. At the highest test voltage (1000 V), the device measures up to 4000 MΩ, allowing for the testing of even high-quality insulation.

Additionally, the KEW3551 enables AC/DC voltage measurement and the determination of diagnostic ratios PI (Polarization Index) and DAR (Dielectric Absorption Ratio), which allow for a basic assessment of the insulation condition in electrical installations.

The device is also equipped with a circuit continuity measurement function using 200mA current and automatic discharge of the tested circuit after the test is completed, which increases operational safety.

Construction and device operation

The KEW3551 is characterized by a compact design with dimensions of 156×97×46 mm and a weight of approximately 490 g (with batteries), making it a practical tool for field work. It is equipped with a legible backlit LCD display and an analog bar indicator for better interpretation of results.

Power is provided by LR6/R6 (AA) type batteries with a voltage of 1.5V in a quantity of 4 pieces. The device features a Data Hold function to freeze measurement results and adjustable test voltage with a ramp function for a gentle increase of the test voltage.

The rated current during measurement is 1.0-1.1mA, and the short-circuit current is a maximum of 1.5mA, ensuring safe testing conditions even for delicate electronics.

Compliance with standards and operating conditions

The meter meets the requirements of the PN-EN61010 safety standards and overvoltage categories CAT III 600V/CAT IV 300V, which guarantees safe use in industrial environments and building installations.

Additionally, the device complies with the following standards:

• PN-EN60529 (IP40 protection rating)

The IP40 protection rating provides basic resistance to dust and accidental water splashes during workshop or field work.
