KEW3131A insulation resistance tester, analog, 250V-1000V 104863

Insulation resistance and continuity measurements in the field

KEW3131A is an analog meter designed for control and periodic measurements in low-voltage electrical installations. The device enables insulation testing at three test voltages - 250V, 500V and 1000V - allowing for the selection of the appropriate value for the type of installation being tested. The measurement ranges are up to 100MΩ, 200MΩ and 400MΩ respectively, with the scale center at 1MΩ / 2MΩ / 4MΩ. The test current is approximately 1mA DC at a rated voltage of +20% / -0%, ensuring reliable results even with longer conductors.

In addition to insulation measurement, the meter also checks circuit continuity up to 20Ω (guaranteed accuracy range ±5%). This function is protected by a dedicated F500mA/600V fuse. An important feature is the ability to compensate (zero) the resistance of the test leads directly from the front panel - this eliminates errors resulting from the resistance of the leads themselves.

Signaling and user functions

The device is equipped with visual and audible signaling of voltage presence in the measured circuit - before starting the test, the user is assured that the circuit is disconnected from the power supply. The PRESS TO TEST button can be locked in the pressed position, enabling continuous measurements without the need to hold the button - useful for a series of measurements or working in hard-to-reach places.

Scale backlighting facilitates reading results in poorly lit locations. An LED indicator informs about the battery status before starting work. After releasing the TEST button, the device automatically discharges the capacitance of the tested circuit - there is no need to manually short the terminals after measurement.

Standards and operating conditions

The meter meets the requirements of the following standards:

  • PN-EN61010-1 - safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement (CAT III 300V, pollution degree 2)
  • PN-EN61010-2-031 - requirements for handheld measuring probes
  • PN-EN61557-1/2/4 - electrical installation testers
  • PN-EN60529 - enclosure protection rating IP54
  • PN-EN61326-1 - electromagnetic compatibility

Dielectric strength is 3700V AC for 1 minute. The device weighs approximately 860g and has dimensions of 186 × 89 × 167 mm, ensuring a comfortable one-handed grip during field work.

Standard equipment

The set includes test leads terminated with probes (model 7122), a lead pouch, a shoulder strap for easy carrying during switchgear or construction site inspections, and an instruction manual. Power is supplied by six 1.5V LR06 (AA) batteries - a typical cell that is easy to replace in the field.
