Single core ÖLFLEX® WIRE MS 2.1 1X2,5 BU, 450/750 V, Eca, 4160502
Universal installation wire for switchgear and machines
The single-core conductor ÖLFLEX® WIRE MS 2.1 with a cross-section of 2,5 mm² is a tinned copper wire of class 5 (flexible multi-strand) in PVC insulation, designed for stationary electrical installations. The blue color identifies it as a neutral conductor - a standard marking used in building and industrial installations worldwide.
The tinned surface of the wire facilitates soldering connections and increases corrosion resistance - an important feature in humid environments, where copper without additional coating could react with the air. The multi-strand construction (class 5 according to IEC 60228) ensures flexibility while maintaining the rigidity required for fixed installations - the wire can be routed in trays and conduits, but is not intended for frequent bending during operation.
The rated voltage of 450/750 V (U0/U) allows for use in typical low-voltage switchgear circuits - both in commercial buildings and industrial facilities.
Construction and electrical parameters
The wire is made of tinned copper with a diameter of approx. 1,78 mm, which, with a cross-section of 2,5 mm², results in the dense strand twisting characteristic of class 5. The PVC insulation has a thickness ensuring a nominal outer diameter of 3,6-4 mm - this compact dimension facilitates routing wires in cable bundles inside switchgear.
The wire resistance at 20°C is 8,21 Ω/km, and the test voltage of 2,5 kV confirms the dielectric strength of the insulation. The maximum permissible operating temperature is 70°C for continuous operation and 90°C during installation - the latter value is important when laying wires in elevated ambient temperatures.
The minimum bending radius for fixed installation is 16 mm (4 × outer diameter), which must be taken into account when designing cable routes.
Applications and compatibility
The conductor is particularly suitable for:
- internal wiring of electrical switchgear,
- control circuit connections inside machines,
- stationary installations in dry and humid rooms,
- construction of control cabinets according to international standards.
The blue color makes it a natural choice as a neutral conductor - for both the electrician installing the switchgear and the end user identifying the wire's function during maintenance.
International standards and operating conditions
The product meets the requirements of several certification systems simultaneously. The H07V-K designation corresponds to European standards for fixed installations in buildings. In the US market, the wire has obtained UL AWM approval in styles 1015 and 1063, as well as the CSA TEW type certificate intended for Canada. Flame retardancy is confirmed by the IEC 60332-1-2 test - the wire self-extinguishes after the flame is removed.
Reaction to fire according to CPR is classified as Eca - basic fire resistance sufficient for typical indoor installations. The wire is neither halogen-free nor low-smoke, so it should not be used where strict fire safety requirements apply for evacuation routes.
The operating temperature range from −40°C to +70°C allows for installation in both industrial cold storage and near heat sources - provided that appropriate distances from heating elements are maintained.
The product is standardly available on 100-meter reels.
