Expansion of CTX3 Mini module functionality

This electrical accessory allows for the expansion of standard CTX3 Mini series contactor modules with additional circuit status signaling. By using a 1NO1NC configuration (one normally open and one normally closed contact), the device enables the simultaneous monitoring of two different signals or the control of two independent auxiliary circuits. This is crucial in installations where it is necessary, for example, to simultaneously provide a "running" signal to the BMS system and a "ready" signal to local light signaling, without the need for additional intermediate relays.

Installation is direct and fast – the element is slid from the front into the appropriate socket on the contactor body, which shortens installation time. Electrical connections are made using screw terminals, which ensure a secure contact even under vibrations or temperature changes. This mounting system is particularly valued by installers because it allows for precise tightening of wires and eliminates the risk of connections loosening during operation.

Application and operating parameters

The device is designed for operation in control circuits with a rated voltage of 230 V AC. Its main task is the safe switching of auxiliary currents, where the maximum operating current for the AC-15 characteristic is 3 A. This means that the contacts are capable of handling typical loads such as:

• Coils of other contactors or relays;
• Signal lamps and LED diodes;
• PLC controller inputs;
• Small time relays.

It is worth remembering that when selecting this accessory, the switching characteristics must be taken into account. The normally open (NO) contact closes the circuit after the contactor operates, and the normally closed (NC) contact opens it – providing full flexibility in designing control logic. This eliminates the need for additional logic inverters in simple building or industrial automation systems. This configuration allows for flexible circuit interconnection without the need for additional intermediate modules.

Construction and compliance with standards

This element is dedicated exclusively to working with CTX3 Mini series contactors from the Legrand brand, which guarantees perfect mechanical and electrical fit. It requires no additional adapters or housing modifications – it is simply slid into the designated place on the front of the main module. Such a solution simplifies warehouse logistics and DIN rail mounting, where every millimeter of space is precious.

In the event of a failure or the need to change the system configuration, replacing the auxiliary contacts is incredibly simple – it is enough to remove the element from the front of the contactor without having to unscrew the entire device from the rail or disconnect the supply wires from the main part of the module (provided the voltage is safely disconnected). The design also ensures adequate insulation between contacts and resistance to the conditions found in electrical switchboards, meeting the requirements set for modern industrial and building automation components. Front mounting facilitates access to terminals even in tightly packed switchboards.
