Purpose and application
The CTX³ power contactor is designed for switching three-phase motors and controlling circuits in industrial and commercial applications with high requirements. The device supports loads up to 11 kW during continuous operation (AC-3) and withstands 40 A under resistive loads (AC-1). In AC-4 mode - i.e., during intensive continuous operation with frequent starts - the rated power drops to 5.5 kW, which must be taken into account when designing installations with high-inertia drives.
Typical applications include:
- Controlling pump, fan, and compressor motors
- Switching high-power lighting
- Switching heating circuits
- Building starters in combination with the RTX3 thermal relay
Three main poles enable full control of three-phase systems.
Construction and connection
The housing has a modular design - adapted for DIN rail mounting in a switchboard. Wire connection is made via screw terminals, which accept multi-wire, single-wire, and ferruled cables - up to 10 mm².
The control coil operates at 230 V AC - the manufacturer specifies the permissible range as 195.5-253 V, providing a safety margin for voltage fluctuations in the grid. The frequency band includes both 50 Hz and 60 Hz.
Operating parameters and standards
The product meets the requirements of the following standards:
- IEC 60947-1 - general conditions for switching devices
- IEC 60947-4-1 - specific requirements for motor contactors/starters
Mechanical endurance reaches 15 million operations, and electrical endurance reaches 2.5 million. This translates to a service life sufficient even under intensive operation.
Auxiliary contacts (1 NO + 1 NC) allow for integration with status signaling systems, interlocks, or cascade control without the need for external additional modules.
Expansion and compatibility
The contactor can be expanded with accessories from the CTX³ family:
- RTX3 thermal relays - motor overcurrent protection
- Auxiliary contact blocks - expansion of the number of aux. contacts.
- Electronic time relay - switching on/off delays
- RC snubber block - capacitor bank switching
- CTX³ interlock module - mutual interlocking of two contactors
As a result, a single model serves as a base for building various configurations - from a simple switch to an advanced motor starter with timing and protection functions.
