The M250 motor circuit breaker is a reliable solution for protecting electric motors against the effects of overloads and short circuits. The device combines the functions of a thermal and electromagnetic release, providing comprehensive protection for circuits where short-term but significant current increases occur – typical during motor starting. This ensures a safe and efficient installation.

The M250 circuit breaker from the Legrand series is a complete device in a housing, designed for mounting on a TH35 rail. Its compact dimensions (45 mm wide, 89 mm high and 72.5 mm deep) allow for easy integration with existing electrical infrastructure. In addition, the presence of auxiliary contacts (1NO1NC) expands the possibilities of using the circuit breaker in control and signaling systems.

Characteristics and application

M250 circuit breakers are dedicated to protecting motors with a power of up to 7.5 kW at 400 V and 4.5 kW at 230 V. The rated continuous current of 20 A (with a setting range of the overload release from 14 to 20 A) allows the device to be adapted to specific application needs. Short-circuit protection with a value of 3 kA at 400 V guarantees a quick response in the event of a dangerous situation.

The thermomagnetic design provides effective protection against both overloads (operation of the thermal release) and short circuits (operation of the electromagnetic release). The thermal release reacts to long-term exceeding of the permissible current, protecting the motor from overheating, while the electromagnetic release immediately interrupts the circuit in the event of a short circuit, minimizing the risk of damage and fire. The IP3X degree of protection provides protection against touching foreign objects with a diameter of more than 2.5 mm.

The M250 circuit breaker is compatible with safety standards and has a rated operating voltage in the range of 230 to 500 V. The possibility of connecting wires using screw connections ensures a secure and durable electrical connection. The lever actuator facilitates operation of the device and quick manual disconnection of the circuit if necessary.
