Thermal-magnetic protection for high inrush current circuits

TX³ series miniature circuit breakers protect electrical installations from the effects of overloads and short circuits - this is their primary function in every distribution board. The S 310 model with D characteristic is designed for circuits containing inductive loads: electric motors, transformers, lighting ballasts, or compressors. The D characteristic means that the magnetic trip will act at a rated current multiplied by a factor of 10 to 20 - this ensures the device does not react to temporary current spikes accompanying motor startups, but immediately disconnects the circuit in the event of a short circuit.

The rated current of 16 A allows for the protection of typical load circuits in residential and commercial buildings - sockets, lighting, and smaller household appliances connected separately.

Operating parameters and breaking capacity

The S 300 series offers a rated short-circuit capacity of 6 kA according to EN 60898-1 and 10 kA according to IEC 60947-2 - the latter value is significant for industrial installations or where the expected level of short-circuit currents is higher. The rated voltage is 230/400 V AC, and the operating frequency range is 50-60 Hz, which covers standard conditions in European power grids.

The insulation voltage of 500 V and the impulse withstand voltage of 4 kV testify to a solid internal construction - the device withstands atmospheric and switching overvoltages without damage.

The housing in gray RAL 7035 has a width of one module on the TH35 rail (17.5 mm), allowing for economical space management in the distribution board. The installation depth is only 44 mm, so it does not cause problems even in shallow flush-mounted boxes or small enclosures.

Compatibility and expansion possibilities

TX³ series products are compatible with DX³ series devices - they can be freely combined in a single installation project. For the S 301 circuit breaker, auxiliary and signaling contacts, undervoltage or overvoltage releases, and remote actuators can be purchased, allowing for the construction of advanced control and device status signaling systems.

Wire connection is made via screw terminals; an option for connection using comb or pin busbars is also available - this accelerates assembly when there is a larger number of devices in one row.

The circuit breaker is not designed for direct connection of residual current blocks - if you need an RCD in the same circuit, they are mounted separately or as a DX³ series multifunctional module.

The black operating lever enables manual switching on and off of the circuit without the need for disassembly - useful during maintenance or emergency work.

Durability and operating conditions

Mechanical durability is 20,000 operations, and electrical durability is 4,000 switching cycles. The storage temperature range is from -40°C to +70°C, so the product does not lose its properties even during transport or storage in difficult conditions.

The enclosure protection rating is IP20 - sufficient for use inside electrical distribution boards, where the device is protected from direct contact and moisture. A pollution degree of 2 means normal environmental conditions without aggressive chemical factors or dust.

Power supply can be supplied from both the top and the bottom - wiring flexibility facilitates adaptation to existing installations.
