Four-pole protection for three-phase installations

The S 314 TX³ miniature circuit breaker is a four-pole automatic circuit breaker designed to protect three-phase circuits from the effects of overloads and short circuits. The C time-current characteristic ensures the device reacts to short-circuit currents in the range of 5-10× the rated current, making it suitable for circuits with inductive loads - electric motors, pumps, or compressors. At the same time, this characteristic allows for momentary inrush voltage spikes without unnecessary tripping.

The four-module wide housing fits standardly on a TH35 rail in any distribution board. The N pole is disconnected simultaneously with the other three phases - the installer is assured of full circuit isolation during maintenance or faults. Terminal covers protect against accidental contact with live parts during wiring.

Operating parameters and breaking capacity

The S 310 series offers a breaking capacity of 10 kA at a phase-to-phase voltage of 400 V AC and 16 kA at lower voltages - values significantly exceeding typical requirements for residential and commercial installations. Energy limiting class 3 means effective attenuation of short-circuit energy, which reduces the thermal and dynamic load on the protected circuit.

The device operates in the frequency range of 50-60 Hz at an operating voltage of up to 440 V AC. The insulation withstands a test voltage of 4 kV, and the maximum insulation voltage is 500 V. An operating temperature range from -25°C to +70°C allows for use both inside buildings and in unheated technical rooms.

Mechanical durability reaches 20 000 cycles, and electrical durability reaches 10 000 cycles at rated load.

Compatibility and expansion

The circuit breaker works with the full range of TX³ series accessories - auxiliary contacts signaling the ON or trip status, undervoltage releases, and remote actuators enabling integration with BMS systems. The bottom clip and the possibility of connection from both the top and bottom speed up installation - the installer does not need to plan the wire routing direction during the distribution board design stage.

The cross-section of connected wires is in the range of 1-35 mm², allowing for flexible cable selection for the designed circuit load.

Standards and operating conditions

The product meets the requirements of standards IEC/EN 60898-1 and IEC/EN 60947-2. The enclosure protection rating is IP20 - sufficient for standard indoor distribution boards. The halogen-free construction eliminates the emission of toxic gases in the event of a fire, which is important in public utility buildings.
