Modular contactor – reliable control of electrical circuits

This Legrand SM 363 series modular contactor is a component designed for remote control of electrical circuits. It is suitable for both home and industrial installations where frequent switching of receivers is required. The rated operating current of 63A allows operation of devices with higher power consumption, and the coil voltage of 230V AC ensures compatibility with typical electrical networks.

Design and functionality

The contactor is designed for mounting on a TH35 rail, which facilitates its installation and integration with existing infrastructure. Its compact dimensions – only 2 modules wide – allow for efficient use of space in the switchgear cabinet. Equipped with two normally open (2NO) contacts, it allows control of two independent circuits or one circuit with increased power. Additionally, the presence of a manual override allows for manual adjustment of the contacts, which is particularly useful when servicing the installation or performing tests. The override offers three positions: "ON", "OFF" and "AUTO" (contactor coil control), providing full control over the circuit.

Applications and technical parameters

The SM 363 contactor is used to control various types of receivers, such as lighting, electric heaters, pumps or motors. Its versatility makes it an ideal choice for both professional installers and end users. Compliance with IEC/EN 61095 standard guarantees safety and reliability. It is worth noting the high switching capacity of the contactor – up to 8000 W for incandescent lamps and up to 4700 VA for fluorescent lamps (and even 5000 VA with DUO compensation). The IP2X degree of protection provides basic protection against touch and ingress of solid objects.

The rated operating voltage is 250 V, and the rated control voltage is in the range of 195 to 253 V AC. The rated current of the contactor is 63 A, it has two normally open (NO) contacts and occupies a width of 2 modules. The degree of protection is IP2X. The maximum switching capacity for incandescent lamps is 8000 W, and for fluorescent lamps 4700 VA (with DUO compensation even 5000 VA). The contactor is equipped with a manual override for easy operation.
