Four-pole circuit switching device

SM400 series modular contactors are used to control single- and three-phase systems - enabling remote or automatic switching of electrical circuits. Unlike standard circuit breakers, a contactor maintains the contacts in the working position as long as control current flows through the coil - once disconnected, it returns to the rest position. This operating principle allows for the control of lighting, fan drives, heating elements, or other loads via building automation, timers, or sensors.

Model SM425 features two normally open (NO) contacts and two normally closed (NC) contacts - this configuration allows for the simultaneous switching on of one circuit and the switching off of another without the need for two separate devices.

Operating parameters

A rated continuous current of 25 A at an operating voltage of 250 V AC allows for the direct connection of various loads. Switching capacities for lighting loads:

• incandescent and halogen lamps - up to 3000 W
• standard fluorescent lamps - up to 2100 VA
• DUO compensation fluorescent lamps - up to 2200 VA
• parallel compensation fluorescent lamps - up to 1000 VA

The coil is powered by 230 V AC, and effective switching occurs within the range of 195-253 V - providing sufficient tolerance for typical fluctuations in building installations.

Design and mounting

The device occupies 2 modules on the TH35 rail (DIN rail), with a width of 35.6 mm. The installation depth is 44 mm, and the total dimensions are 35.6 × 94.9 × 67.3 mm. The enclosure protection rating is IP2X.

The built-in manual override slider allows for manual switching of the contacts without applying voltage to the coil - useful during maintenance or installation failures. A clear status indicator signals the current position of the contacts.

The manufacturer has provided the possibility of expansion through additional auxiliary equipment (auxiliary modules), which allow for reporting contact status to BMS systems or similar automation installations.

Compliance with standards

The contactor meets the requirements of the IEC/EN 61095 standard regarding electrical switching devices used in building installations. Production is covered by European certificates confirming user safety - VDE homologation and NF quality certificate. The EPD environmental declaration documents the product's impact on the natural environment throughout the entire life cycle of the device.
