The LS Electric SSMe series soft starter, including model SSMe-0397B-V5-C1, is an advanced device designed for smooth starting and stopping of electric motors. Using a soft starter not only protects the mechanical components of the drive, but also reduces energy costs and load on the power supply network. The device combines precise control with a wide range of motor protection functions, making it an ideal solution for both professional installers and end users.

Functionality and application

The SSMe series is distinguished by its compact design while maintaining impressive power – it covers a range from 11 kW to 400 kW. The built-in LCD display makes configuration and monitoring of operating parameters easier. The soft starter offers various starting and stopping modes, such as adaptive control, current start, voltage regulation over time, and stopping with run-down. This allows for optimal adaptation to the specifics of a given application and type of load.

It is worth noting the built-in internal bypass, which minimizes power losses during the motor's normal operation. In addition, the SSMe soft starter is characterized by high energy efficiency (up to 99% during operation), which translates into real savings. Soft starter technology also reduces harmonic disturbances in the power supply network.

Protection and safety

The SSMe soft starter provides comprehensive protection of the motor against various types of failures. The built-in protection functions include: motor overload, excessively long start-up time, insufficient current, overcurrent, phase current imbalance, input short circuits, and monitoring of motor thermistors. The ability to configure protections allows you to adapt their operation to specific application needs. The device also has extensive communication capabilities – remote control inputs (both fixed and programmable) and relay outputs (also fixed and programmable). Additionally, an analog output is available.

Model SSMe-0397B-V5-C1 is adapted to cooperate with a supply voltage of 200-525 VAC (V5 version) and a control voltage of 110-120 VAC or 220-240 VAC (C1 version). It is recommended to use a main contactor to protect the soft starter from voltage disturbances in the network during motor standstill – when selecting it, remember that the AC3 class is equal to or higher than the motor's rated current.
