Flat power cable for internal installations
YDyp cables are a basic solution used in permanent electrical installations in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Their flat geometry makes it easier to route cables in tight spaces, especially where the cables are laid under plaster or in skirting boards.
Construction and materials
Copper as the conductive material ensures low resistance and good electrical conductivity. The solid-core conductor (class 1) with a cross-section of 1.5 mm² is suitable for permanent installations where the cable is not subjected to frequent bending after installation.
The PVC insulation protects the conductor from short circuits and mechanical damage. The white outer coating allows for discreet routing of visible cables, for example, on plaster before the final wall finish.
Color-coded conductors in accordance with HD 308 S2 simplify the correct connection of the phase (brown) and neutral (blue) wires without the need for additional marking.
Operating parameters and conditions
The rated voltage of 450/750 V allows the cable to be used in both standard lighting and socket circuits (230 V) and in more demanding industrial installations.
The operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C ensures functionality in various conditions, from unheated utility rooms to industrial facilities with higher ambient temperatures. The cable can be laid at temperatures above -5°C - below this limit, the PVC insulation loses its flexibility, and the risk of damage during bending increases.
The maximum conductor temperature of +160°C in the event of a short circuit provides a safety margin in the event of temporary overloads.
The minimum bending radius is 4d (four times the smaller dimension of the cross-section), which means that with dimensions of approximately 6.3 × 9.6 mm, the bending radius is approximately 25 mm - sufficient for most cable routes.
The cable is not resistant to UV radiation or oils and should not be used outdoors or in environments in contact with petroleum-based substances.
Applications and certificates
Designed for permanent installation indoors:
- under plaster,
- in plaster,
- on plaster,
- in electrical conduits,
- in cable ducts.
It works well in both dry and humid environments, but direct contact with water requires additional protection (e.g., PVC pipes).
The product has a BBJ SEP "B" certificate, confirming compliance with relevant standards, and a fire reaction class of Eca according to CPR, which means basic resistance to flame spread (IEC 60332-1-2 test for a single cable). However, it is not a halogen-free or low-smoke product; in the event of a fire, it releases hydrogen chloride and is therefore not suitable for use in escape routes or public buildings with increased fire safety requirements.
The cable is supplied as a reel of 100 meters - an optimal length for most home and commercial installations without the need to join sections.
Installation must be carried out by persons with appropriate electrical qualifications in accordance with applicable regulations.
