NKT installation cable YDYp copper 750V 5x6 white 172153023C0100
Construction and Electrical Parameters
The YDYp cable is a classic flat installation cable designed for permanent installations inside buildings. It features five solid copper conductors (Class 1), each with a cross-sectional area of 6 mm², ensuring a stable electrical connection. Solid conductors are ideal where rigidity and ease of routing within conduits or cable trays are required.
The insulation and outer sheath are made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride), providing adequate mechanical protection for the conductors. The outer sheath is white, making it easier to conceal the cable on walls and ceilings. In the standard configuration, one of the five conductors serves as a protective conductor and has a green-yellow insulation (marked żółto-zielony), allowing for quick identification of the protective conductor during installation.
The color coding of the remaining conductors complies with the HD 308 S2 standard, which defines the standard color scheme used in electrical installations – most commonly brown, black, gray, and blue.
The cable is rated for a nominal voltage of 450/750 V, and the test voltage of 2.5 kV confirms the insulation's ability to withstand voltage stress. The maximum operating temperature of the conductor is +70°C, while a short-term increase to +160°C is permissible under fault conditions – an important parameter when designing overcurrent protection.
The dimensions of the cross-section are approximately 7 × 24.6 mm, allowing the cable to be routed even in narrow spaces between plaster layers and drywall.
Operating Conditions and Resistance
The operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C allows the cable to be used in both heated and unheated rooms, as well as in commercial and industrial buildings without permanent heating. A relative humidity of up to 100% is not a problem, as the PVC insulation performs well in humid environments.
The minimum installation temperature is -5°C – below this threshold, the PVC loses its flexibility, and the risk of insulation damage during bending increases. However, storage is permissible from -40°C.
The minimum bending radius is 4d, where "d" is the smaller dimension of the cable cross-section (7 mm), resulting in a radius of approximately 28 mm – large enough to avoid bending the cable at a sharp angle during routing.
The cable exhibits flame retardant properties according to the IEC 60332-1-2 standard (single cable configuration). However, it is not resistant to UV radiation and should not be used outdoors without additional protection against sunlight.
Application and Installation Guidelines
YDYp cables are designed for permanent installation inside buildings – under plaster, in plaster, and on plaster. They are suitable for distribution boards, connecting sockets and switches, and powering electrical equipment operating in dry and humid environments.
The solid conductor construction makes it easier to route the cable through conduits and cable trays – the rigid core is less likely to tangle than a stranded conductor. However, this requires some experience when forming bends and branches.
Installation should be carried out by persons with appropriate electrical qualifications – SEP certificates or equivalent. During installation, it is necessary to comply with applicable building regulations and standards for low-voltage electrical installations.
The product is supplied in 100-meter rolls. When ordering longer lengths, it is necessary to consider shipping logistics – a maximum of 65 meters in one piece can be shipped by courier, and up to 30 meters by parcel locker; for lengths exceeding this, pallet delivery is used.
Standards, Certificates, and Compliance
The cable has a certificate issued by BBJ SEP "B", which confirms that the product complies with applicable technical standards for electrical installations. The fire reaction classification according to CPR is Eca – the minimum class for electrical products subject to the Declaration of Performance.
Production takes place at the NKT Joint Stock Company plant in Warszawice (Gajowa 3), which guarantees full control over the quality of the technological process and the possibility of prompt service for domestic customers.
The product complies with the EU directives RoHS (restriction of hazardous substances) and REACH (chemical safety), confirming the absence of excessive amounts of hazardous substances.
