YDY installation cable, 750V, 5x6, white. 172170006C0100
Construction and Materials
The YDY cable with a cross-section of 5×6 mm² is a round installation cable with copper single-wire conductors (class 1) in PVC insulation and an outer sheath. Copper as the conductive material ensures low resistance and electrical stability throughout its service life. The single-wire construction ensures that the cable retains its shape after installation – it does not deform in junction boxes or cable trays, which facilitates routing and subsequent finishing work.
The fifth conductor is green-yellow and functions as a protective conductor – in accordance with the HD 308 S2 identification standard. The colored insulation of the individual conductors facilitates correct connection in distribution boards and accessories.
The white outer sheath allows for discreet routing of the cable on plaster, especially in residential and office spaces.
Operating Parameters and Conditions
The rated voltage of 450/750 V classifies this cable as a low-voltage cable – sufficient for most building installations, from lighting to main distribution boards. The test voltage of 2.5 kV confirms the dielectric strength of the insulation.
The operating temperature range of −40°C to +70°C means that the cable performs well both in cold technical rooms and in industrial environments with elevated ambient temperatures. In the event of a short circuit, the insulation can withstand a temporary increase to +160°C – this is important when selecting overcurrent protection devices.
The minimum installation temperature is −5°C, so installation can also be carried out in unheated buildings during finishing work. Storage is permissible even at −40°C.
The minimum bending radius is 4×∅ (outer diameter approx. 14.6-16.9 mm), which requires sufficient slack to be maintained when changing the direction of the cable run.
The approximate weight is approx. 502 kg/km – when ordering longer lengths (e.g. entire drums), the load on the supporting structure must be taken into account.
Safety and Standards
The cable meets the fire reaction class Eca according to CPR (EN 50575:2014 + A1:2016), which means low smoke emission during combustion – important in public and multi-family buildings. Flame propagation resistance is confirmed by the IEC 60332-1-2 standard.
The BBJ SEP “B” certificate issued by the Testing and Certification Office confirms compliance with the applicable technical standards for power cables.
The cable complies with the RoHS and REACH directives, which means that it does not contain hazardous substances above the permissible limits – this is important for projects requiring environmental specifications (e.g. building certifications).
Note: the cable is not resistant to UV radiation or direct sunlight – for outdoor installations, additional protection is required (conduit or duct).
Applications
The YDY cable is intended for fixed electrical installations – both in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. It can be laid:
- on plaster and under plaster,
- in dry and damp rooms,
- indoors (with additional protection, also outdoors).
Five conductors with a cross-section of 6 mm² make it possible to implement three-phase circuits with neutral and protective conductors – a typical application is the power supply to floor distribution boards, electric kitchens or industrial equipment with higher power consumption.
