Automatic mains failure controller PEF-321 ABP NTPEF321R
Automatic Reserve Engagement Controller – reliable power switching
The PEF-321 ABP device is an intelligent controller designed for automatic switching to backup power in uninterruptible power supply systems. It is intended for use in control cabinets, providing a smooth transition between the main power source and the backup in case of voltage problems, phase asymmetry, phase sequence changes, or loss of one or more phases. This protects sensitive devices and processes from power interruptions.
Functionality and Application
The 321ABP controller monitors the voltage at two three-phase 230/400V inputs, automatically switching the load when irregularities are detected. It can be used both in automatic transfer switch (ATS) systems and for automatic starting of a three-phase generator. The device not only protects against failures but also optimizes the availability of electrical energy.
- Automatic switching: Smooth transition between primary and backup power without interrupting the operation of connected devices.
- Protection against disturbances: Reaction to unacceptable voltage deviations, phase asymmetry, phase sequence changes, and phase loss.
- Generator compatibility: Ability to automatically start and stop a generator in case of a mains failure.
- Configuration flexibility: Various operating modes available, including operation with two equivalent inputs or with priority input 1 or 2.
- Status indication: Display and LEDs provide information about the current status of the device and any alarms.
Design and Installation
The PEF-321 ABP controller is mounted on a DIN rail inside control cabinets. It has a housing with a width of 9 DIN (162 mm). The device is equipped with buttons for control and a display for presenting information about the operating status. Additionally, it offers a function to work with a contactor and supports the Modbus protocol, which facilitates integration with building and industrial automation systems. The implemented protections include phase loss, phase symmetry, phase reversal, and control of the external contactor contacts.
The device has two three-phase inputs and a maximum current load determined by the contactor used (up to 5A). A built-in fuse protects the device from overload. Thanks to its solid construction and high-quality components, the controller ensures reliable operation even in harsh industrial conditions.
