Functionality and application

The ÜSM-A arrester is a class T3 device according to DIN EN 61643-11. This means that it is the last line of defense against overvoltages that have passed through earlier stages of protection (e.g. overcurrent circuit breakers). Its task is to discharge excess energy to ground, protecting connected devices from damage. An acoustic signal informs about the operation of the arrester – allowing for quick identification of the problem and replacement of the device after a surge. This is especially important in the event of frequent thunderstorms or unstable power grids.

The degree of protection IP20 provides protection against accidental contact and dust. The device does not have a remote signaling contact – information about its operation is transmitted exclusively by an acoustic signal on the housing.
