Overvoltage protection for electrical installations

The V20-0-75 surge limiter cartridge is a key element ensuring the safety and reliability of electrical installations. Designed for mounting on a base, it effectively protects against the effects of sudden voltage increases, minimizing the risk of damage to equipment and system failures. It is a Type 2 component, which means it provides indirect overvoltage protection, ideal for places where additional protection on the load side is required.

Functionality and application

This limiter is designed for potential equalization in overvoltage protection in accordance with VDE 0100-443 (IEC 60364-4-44) standards. Its ability to discharge current up to 40 kA (8/20) per pole, thanks to the use of high-performance varistors, guarantees effective protection even in the event of strong discharges. Optical signaling of the cartridge status facilitates quick identification of damage and the need for replacement. Thanks to this, both installers and end users can be sure that the protection system is working correctly.

Construction and parameters

The cartridge is characterized by a compact design – it occupies only 1 module – which makes it easy to install in electrical switchboards with limited space. The housing made of self-extinguishing plastic (UL 94 V-0) provides additional fire safety. The rated AC voltage is 60 V, and the maximum discharge current (8/20) is as much as 40 kA. Short-circuit strength at 20 kA further increases the reliability of the device. The degree of protection IP20 indicates protection against touching with a finger and solid objects larger than 12.5 mm. The ability to work in various network configurations (TN, TN-S, TN-C-S, TT, TN-C) makes it a universal solution for a wide range of applications. The maximum cross-section of flexible and rigid wire is as much as 352 mm², which allows connecting wires with a large diameter.
