SML Drainage System – Reliability and Durability of Cast Iron
Double bent cast iron elbow SML 100/88 is an element of a spigotless pipe and fitting system, designed for the construction of gravity drainage and stormwater installations inside buildings. Made of socketless gray cast iron, it meets the requirements of EN-877 standard, guaranteeing high quality and reliability. This fitting, with an 88-degree angle, allows changing the flow direction in the installation.
Construction and Material Protection
The SML system is distinguished by advanced anti-corrosion and chemical protection. Pipes and fittings are coated with both an external primer coat (red-brown) and an internal coating of cross-linked epoxy resin (ochre – yellowish-brown). This two-layer coating system provides long-term protection against aggressive wastewater and external factors. In the case of fittings, the epoxy coating is applied by immersion to the internal and external surfaces, and then cured at high temperature (approx. 180°C), which increases its adhesion and resistance.

SYSTEM ADVANTAGES:
- NON-FLAMMABLE, FIRE PROTECTION - cast iron products made in accordance with en-877 are non-flammable, non-flammable (A2 flammability class according to EN 13501) and non-toxic (no smoke generation, no flammable or dripping materials due to the heat generated). In the event of fire, they retain their functional properties and reliability for many hours, i.e. their walls remain impermeable to flames and gases, without cracking and showing no loss of performance or significant changes in shape. The integrity of wall and ceiling ducts is also maintained.
- ACOUSTIC PROTECTION - Due to the high density of the cast iron and the buffer effect of the rubber gaskets at the connecting elements, the transmission of material sound has been reduced to a minimum, so this system offers an almost silent drainage. This increases the overall comfort in both office and residential buildings.
- THERMAL AND CHEMICAL RESISTANCE - a coating of fully cross-linked epoxy resin (red-brown on the outside and ocher (yellow-brown) on the inside) is applied to the surface of pipes and fittings, and then fired for 45 minutes at a temperature of approx. 180 ° C. The result is a high-strength joint that provides high thermal and chemical resistance, protecting against aggressive wastewater.
