Double bent iron elbow – reliability and durability in the SML system
The SML 150/88 double bent iron elbow is a key element of the SML sewage system, designed for gravity installations inside buildings. Made of nodular cast iron, it provides a durable and safe connection in sewage and drainage installations. The SML system is characterized by high resistance to corrosion, abrasion and mechanical damage, which translates into the longevity of the entire installation.
Construction and properties
This fitting, manufactured in accordance with EN-877 standard, combines the solidity of cast iron with modern protective coatings. Both the inner and outer surface of the elbow are covered with a special epoxy resin coating, which provides chemical and thermal resistance. The inner coating (ochre – yellowish-brown) with a thickness of 120 μm protects against the aggressive action of sewage, and the outer coating (reddish-brown) with a thickness of 40 μm protects against corrosion. The coating firing process at approx. 180°C for 45 minutes guarantees its durable connection with the cast iron.

SYSTEM ADVANTAGES:
- NON-FLAMMABLE, FIRE PROTECTION - cast iron products made in accordance with en-877 are non-flammable, non-flammable (A2 flammability class according to EN 13501) and non-toxic (no smoke generation, no flammable or dripping materials due to the heat generated). In the event of fire, they retain their functional properties and reliability for many hours, i.e. their walls remain impermeable to flames and gases, without cracking and showing no loss of performance or significant changes in shape. - ACOUSTIC PROTECTION - Due to the high density of the cast iron and the buffer effect of the rubber gaskets at the connecting elements, the transmission of material sound has been reduced to a minimum, so this system offers an almost silent drainage. - THERMAL AND CHEMICAL RESISTANCE - a coating of fully cross-linked epoxy resin (red-brown on the outside and ocher (yellow-brown) on the inside) is applied to the surface of pipes and fittings, and then fired for 45 minutes at a temperature of approx. 180 ° C. The result is a high-strength joint that provides high thermal and chemical resistance, protecting against aggressive wastewater.
