The RSP-PV4.5-1200-3P surge protective device has been designed specifically for DC/PV installations, providing comprehensive surge protection in photovoltaic systems with a rated voltage of 1200 V DC. The Class I+II (T1+T2) plug-in design guarantees effective protection against both direct lightning strikes and inductive surges.

Thanks to MOV technology with a potential-free contact, it enables remote fault signaling, which significantly facilitates monitoring the status of the surge protector and rapid response to any potential problems.

Operating parameters and protection level

The surge protector is characterized by high strength parameters adapted to the requirements of professional PV installations. The rated discharge current In is 20 kA, while the maximum discharge current reaches 50 kA, ensuring an adequate safety margin even under extreme weather conditions.

The impulse current Iimp is 4.5 kA for the 10/350 µs impulse characteristic, which is the standard for Class I+II surge protectors in photovoltaic applications. The device maintains a continuous operating voltage of 1340 V DC, and the protection level is 4 kV for all circuit configurations (DC+/DC-, DC+/PE).

Construction and mounting

The design based on MOV technology ensures reliable operation in difficult environmental conditions characteristic of outdoor PV installations. The surge protector occupies 3 modules on a standard TH-35 mm DIN mounting rail, facilitating integration with existing distribution boards.

The device dimensions are compact with a net weight of 378 g, and the maximum cross-section for flexible conductors can be up to 25 mm². For rigid conductors, a cross-section of up to 35 mm² is permissible. Visual status indication allows for immediate identification of the device status directly at the installation site.

The IP20 protection rating protects against finger contact and access to solid bodies larger than 12.5 mm, which is sufficient for mounting inside electrical distribution boards meeting safety standard requirements.
