Central Heating/DHW Pump Controller – Intelligent Circuit Management

The SALUS NPC1B controller is a reliable device designed to control a circulation pump in central heating or domestic hot water systems. Its main task is to maintain the optimal temperature by turning the pump on and off depending on current needs, which translates to user comfort and potential energy savings. The device is easy to install – wall-mounted – and intuitive to operate, which will be appreciated by both installers and end-users.

Functionality and application

The NPC1B controller reacts to temperature changes, starting the circulation pump after exceeding the set value and turning it off after falling below the set threshold. Thanks to this, the pump only runs when it is actually necessary, eliminating unnecessary energy consumption and extending its lifespan. The ability to set separate on temperatures ("C") and off temperatures ("U") allows for precise adjustment of the pump's operation to the specifics of the installation and user preferences.

The device also offers a number of additional functions that increase its functionality:

• Frost protection: automatically starts the pump when the temperature drops below 5°C, protecting the installation from damage caused by freezing water.
• Pump anti-seize function (antistop): regularly starts the pump every 14 days for 15 seconds, preventing it from seizing during prolonged downtime.
• Manual mode: allows you to check the pump's efficiency by manually turning it on and off using the controller buttons.
• Alarm: audibly signals too high a boiler temperature (above 90°C) or a short circuit in the temperature sensor circuit.

Construction and technical parameters

The NPC1B controller is characterized by a simple construction and an intuitive user interface. It is equipped with a two-digit LED display, which shows the current temperature and set operating parameters. Operation is performed using three buttons: increase/decrease value and a menu button, allowing access to advanced settings. The controller is powered from the 230V AC mains, and the load of the circulation pump output is up to 6A. The length of the temperature sensor cable is 1.2 m, which provides flexibility during installation. The device meets the EMC 2014/30/EU and RoHS 2011/65/EU standards, guaranteeing safe use and compliance with applicable regulations. The temperature measurement range is from 0 to 99°C, and the temperature setting range for turning on the pump is from 5 to +80°C and for turning off from 10 to +85°C.
