This electronic module, often referred to as a "dummy module" or placeholder, is a component of the Modicon TM5 system from Schneider Electric. It serves as a filler in the PLC or PAC controller housing, allowing for consistency and aesthetics of the installation when not all slots are occupied by active modules. This is particularly useful when planning future system expansions.

The TM5SD000 module has no logical functions or inputs/outputs. Its main purpose is to physically occupy space in the housing, ensuring proper system operation and facilitating the later addition of functionality.

Characteristics and application

The TM5SD000 module is compatible with a wide range of Modicon TM5 I/O modules, including digital, analog, communication, and power modules. It can be used interchangeably with other modules in places where no functionality is currently required.

Construction and mounting

The module has dimensions of 12.5 mm width, 99 mm height, and 75 mm depth. It is mounted on a standard DIN rail, ensuring easy and quick installation. It has an IP20 degree of protection, which means protection against touching with a finger, but does not protect against the effects of water or dust. It is important to exercise caution when working with the device under voltage.

The module is designed to operate at a temperature from -10°C to 60°C (taking into account the derating factor for horizontal installation). It meets CE, C-Tick, CULus, CSA and GOST-R standards and IEC 61131-2, UL 508 and CSA C22.2 standards.
