This Acti9 iC60H series miniature circuit breaker is a device designed to protect circuits in single-phase installations, where reliability is key at a rated current of 25 A. Its 1P+N design (one protected pole plus neutral pole) means that in the event of a fault, both the phase and neutral conductors are disconnected simultaneously, increasing the level of safety during service work. The device is characterized by a high breaking capacity – it can safely interrupt a short-circuit current up to 15 kA (according to the industrial standard IEC 60947-2) and 10 kA (according to the building standard IEC 60898-1). This level of endurance makes it suitable not only for typical single-family homes but also for commercial and industrial facilities, where the risk of strong surges is higher.
Intelligent diagnostics and flexible mounting
One of the most practical features of this model is the visual status signaling system. Thanks to the VisiTrip indicator, the installer or user can immediately see whether the breaker tripped due to an overload/short circuit (red color) or was manually switched off. This is a significant facilitation when searching for the cause of a fault in complex switchboards – there is no need to check each circuit individually. Additionally, the VisiSafe indicator informs about the physical opening of the contacts (green color), allowing for safe performance of service activities without the risk of electric shock.
Mounting and operation have been designed to save time:
- Quick disassembly: The device can be removed from the DIN rail without tools, and more importantly – there is no need to disassemble the entire busbar or other devices.
- Double terminals: They allow for connecting wires from both the top and the bottom, providing great freedom in cable routing within the switchboard.
- Various cross-sections: Ability to connect single-core wires with a cross-section from 1 to 25 mm² and multi-core wires from 1 to 16 mm².
- Insulation: The terminals are insulated (IP20 protection degree), which protects against accidental contact with live parts.
Application and resistance to external conditions
The Type C tripping characteristic makes the device ideal for circuits with inductive devices, such as electric motors or compact fluorescent lamps. The breaker reacts more slowly to short inrush current spikes (5-10 times the rated current), avoiding nuisance tripping during equipment startup, while simultaneously quickly disconnecting the circuit in the event of a serious short circuit. The device is adapted to work in a wide range of ambient temperatures: from -35 °C to +70 °C, making it suitable also for unheated rooms or production halls with a specific microclimate.
An energy limiting class of 3 means very fast action during short circuits – the device "dampens" the short-circuit energy before it reaches its maximum peak value. This translates to lower thermal and mechanical stress for the remaining elements of the installation and the outgoing cables. The breaker meets strict safety standards (IEC/EN 60898-1 and IEC/EN 60947-2) and has an overvoltage category IV, which guarantees resistance to lightning surges up to 6 kV.
In practice, this means several concrete benefits for the installation:
- The rated current of 25 A ensures protection for high-load socket circuits or industrial lighting groups.
- The C characteristic works perfectly with motor-driven devices (e.g., ventilation pumps) and fluorescent lighting.
- The VisiTrip indicator allows for rapid localization of the faulty circuit without the need to disassemble switchboard covers.
- The high breaking capacity of 15 kA provides a large safety margin for modern installations powered from networks with high short-circuit power.
- The possibility of tool-free mounting enables quick replacement of a damaged module even in hard-to-reach switchboards built into walls or industrial cabinets.
This device is also compatible with a wide range of Acti9 series accessories (e.g., auxiliary contacts or trip units), allowing for the expansion of switchboard functionality in the future without the need to replace the entire base module. Thanks to this solution, the investment in protection remains future-proof and scalable with changes in the building's electrical infrastructure.
