Protection for circuits with low inrush currents

The Acti9 iC60L series miniature circuit breaker, featuring Z tripping characteristic, has been designed for specific circuits where standard type B protections might cause nuisance tripping. Thanks to this solution, the device reacts to short-circuit currents significantly faster than its counterparts, which is crucial in installations powering electronic devices, LED systems, or sensitive controllers. With a rated current of 10 A and a single-pole design, this model is ideal for locations requiring precise protection against low-intensity overloads that may occur during the startup of delicate electronics.

Precision of operation and mounting safety

In industrial applications or modern office buildings, where inductive loads are rare and short-circuit protection is a priority, the Z characteristic allows for maintaining operational continuity while simultaneously providing an instantaneous disconnection during a fault. The device possesses high short-circuit breaking capacity – up to 25 kA (according to IEC 60947-2) and 15 kA (according to EN 60898-1), ensuring reliability even in demanding network conditions.

Installation and operation of this circuit breaker have been facilitated by several key design solutions:

• Double terminals allow for wire connection from both the top and the bottom, increasing flexibility during wiring in distribution boards.
• The ability to connect two wires of different cross-sections (from 1 to 25 mm² for single-core wires) allows for optimal use of space in the distribution cabinet.
• The quick disassembly system allows for removing the device from the DIN rail without tools, and even without the need to disconnect busbars – simply press the latch at the front of the device.
• Visual signaling of the operating state is not just a convenient addition, but a safety element:
  • The Visi-Trip indicator (white-red) informs of an electrical trip (overload or short-circuit).
  • The Visi-Safe indicator (green) confirms the physical opening of the contacts, allowing for safe work on the circuit without the risk of electric shock.

Application and resistance to environmental conditions

The device is adapted to work in a wide range of ambient temperatures – from -35 °C to +70 °C, making it a universal solution not only for air-conditioned office rooms, but also for production halls or outdoor facilities (provided there is adequate protection from direct sunlight). The IP20 protection rating protects against accidental contact with live parts, and the energy limiting class 3 guarantees rapid extinguishing of the electric arc during short circuits.

Due to compliance with industrial and building standards, this circuit breaker can be used in residential, commercial, and industrial installations, providing consistent protection for the entire electrical system. The possibility of expansion with accessories such as auxiliary contacts or remote trip releases makes it a flexible component of larger energy management systems. It is worth noting its compact design – the width is only one module (approx. 18 mm), and the mounting depth is 44.5 mm, which facilitates installation in tight distribution boards while maintaining full functionality.
