Signaling contact, Acti9, iSD 2-100 mA, 1CO, for low-current circuits, bottom connection A9A26917

Functional status indicator for Acti9 systems

The modular signaling contact from the Acti9 series, designated as iSD, plays a key role in the remote monitoring of the status of protective devices, such as residual current devices or overcurrent devices. Its main task is to transmit a signal regarding the device tripping to a controller or a building automation system, allowing for rapid localization of the cause of a fault without the need for a physical visit to the distribution board. The device is characterized by universal application in low-current circuits, handling currents in the range of 2 mA to 100 mA at AC/DC voltages. This makes it an ideal element for integration with PLC systems and modern installations in commercial, industrial, or critical infrastructure facilities.

Application and compatibility in installations

This contact is designed for direct mounting on a DIN rail next to the main protective device, occupying only 0.5 module width (9 mm). Such a compact design allows for easy expansion of existing distribution boards without the need to replace the entire system with a wider one. The device is compatible with a wide range of Schneider Electric products from the Acti9 series, including iC60, iID, iC40 circuit breakers and iSW-NA modules. In practice, this means that an installer can easily add a remote signaling function to existing earth leakage or overcurrent protection.

A key aspect for the designer and installer is the possibility of bottom connection. This solution facilitates wiring in distribution boards with limited space and ensures an aesthetic and orderly arrangement of wires. The contact features one changeover contact (1 C/O), providing flexibility in the configuration of the signaling circuit – it can be used to inform about both the "tripped" and "secured" status.

Operating conditions and mounting details

The device has been designed for reliable operation in diverse environmental conditions. The rated insulation voltage is 500 V, and the impulse withstand voltage (Uimp) reaches 4 kV, ensuring safety even during sudden voltage surges in the network. The operating temperature range includes values from -25°C to +70°C, making it suitable not only for controlled rooms but also for zones with more difficult thermal conditions. The IP20 protection rating protects against contact with live parts and against the ingress of solid objects larger than 12 mm.

In terms of mounting, the contact supports copper wires with cross-sections from 1 mm² to 4 mm² (rigid) and from 0.5 mm² to 2.5 mm² (flexible), providing great freedom when choosing the type of cabling. The terminal tightening torque is 1 N·m for a PZ1 screwdriver. The entire unit is made in white (RAL 9003), ensuring visual consistency with the rest of the Acti9 accessories. The product complies with strict EN/IEC 60947-5-1 and EN/IEC 60947-5-4 standards and holds CE and UKCA certifications.

It is worth noting that thanks to the use of a single C/O changeover contact, the device offers flexibility in controlling signaling circuits. Operation takes place in a wide voltage range – both alternating current (AC) from 24 to 250 V and direct current (DC) from 24 to 220 V – with a control current ranging between 2 and 100 mA. The compact width of only 9 mm (half module) allows for efficient use of space in the distribution board during DIN rail mounting. Safety of use is guaranteed by environmental conditions allowing operation in temperatures from -25°C to +70°C with an IP20 protection rating. Screw terminals are available for connection, accepting both rigid (1–4 mm²) and flexible (0.5–2.5 mm²) wires.
