Signaling contact, Acti9, iSD 2-100 mA, 1CO, for low-current circuits, top connection A9A26916

Functional status signaling in Acti9 systems

The modular signaling contact from the Acti9 series, designated as iSD, plays a key role in monitoring the status of protective devices, such as circuit breakers or residual current devices. Its main task is to remotely notify about device tripping, which allows for rapid fault localization in the installation without the need for a physical visit to the switchboard. The device features one changeover contact (1 CO) that reacts to currents in the range of 2 mA to 100 mA, making it a universal component for low-power control and signaling circuits. Thanks to this solution, the installer can easily integrate an alarm system or BMS with the existing electrical infrastructure, and the end user gains certainty that every unplanned shutdown will be recorded and reported.

Application and mounting flexibility

The device is designed for direct mounting on a DIN rail next to Schneider Electric circuit breakers, occupying only 0.5 modules in width (9 mm). Such a compact design allows for maintaining order in switchboards, even in the case of extensive installations in commercial buildings, data centers, or critical infrastructure facilities. The contact works with devices having a maximum main current of up to 63 A and can be connected to circuits with a rated voltage of 240 V AC/DC.

Wire connection is performed via screw terminals located at the top of the module, which facilitates work in densely packed switchboard components. The terminal system supports various types of copper wires:

  • Rigid wires: cross-section from 1 mm² to 4 mm² (single) or two wires of 2.5 mm².
  • Flexible wires: cross-section from 0.5 mm² to 2.5 mm² (single) or two wires of 1.5 mm² with ferrules.

It is worth remembering the appropriate screw tightening torque, which is 1 N·m for a PZ1 screwdriver – this is a parameter important for the durability of the electrical connection and the long-term operational safety of the device.

Compliance with standards and operating conditions

The signaling contact has been designed in accordance with the rigorous industry standards EN/IEC 60947-5-1 and EN/IEC 60947-5-4, which guarantees its reliability in demanding industrial and installation environments. The device is characterized by a high degree of surge immunity (impulse withstand voltage Uimp is 4 kV) and insulation resistant to voltages up to 500 V. The IP20 protection rating protects against contact with dangerous parts by fingers, while simultaneously requiring installation in shielded switchboard enclosures.

Thanks to a wide range of operating temperatures (from -25°C to +70°C) and storage temperatures (up to +85°C), the module performs well not only in air-conditioned office rooms but also in production halls or outdoor control cabinets, provided there is adequate protection against direct sunlight and precipitation. A local mechanical indicator on the housing further facilitates rapid device status diagnostics during periodic inspections without the need for additional measuring instruments.
