Insulation Resistance Meter – Precision and Versatility in One Device

The Sonel MIC-5001 insulation resistance meter is an advanced tool designed for comprehensive electrical insulation diagnostics. The device combines functionality, reliability, and safety, making it an ideal choice for professional installers, service technicians, and those involved in quality control in industry. MIC-5001 enables measurements of insulation resistance up to 5 TΩ, providing accurate results and supporting effective assessment of the technical condition of electrical installations.

Wide Measurement Range and Functions Facilitating Work

The meter offers a wide range of measurement voltages – from 50 V to 5000 V, with the ability to select in steps of 50 V (up to 500 V) and 100 V (above 500 V). This allows you to adapt the measurement parameters to the specifics of the installation being tested. Additionally, the device has a function of continuous indication of the measured resistance or leakage current, as well as automatic discharge of the measured object's capacitance after the measurement – which increases safety and comfort of work. The built-in acoustic signal generator facilitates reading time characteristics, and measuring the time T1, T2 and T3 allows for precise determination of the absorption ratio (DAR) and polarization index (PI) – key parameters for assessing the condition of the insulation.

Advanced Measurement Methods and Data Storage

MIC-5001 offers not only standard insulation resistance measurement using two- and three-wire methods, but also an advanced RampTest method and dielectric strength measurement with a rate of rise up to ~1 kV/s. This enables a comprehensive analysis of the insulation condition and identification of potential problems. Measurement results are displayed on a clear LCD screen, and thanks to the built-in memory (990 cells, 11880 entries) they can be stored and transferred to a computer via the USB port for further analysis using the dedicated Sonel Reader software. The meter also allows measurement of DC and AC voltages in the range of 0…750 V.

Safety and Reliability Confirmed by Certificates

The design of MIC-5001 has been created with user safety in mind. The device has double insulation in accordance with PN-EN 61010-1 and IEC 61557 standards and protection against measurement of energized objects. The IP65 protection class of the housing provides resistance to dust and moisture, allowing operation in harsh environmental conditions. The meter is powered by a 9.6 V NiMH LSD battery or a 12 V DC external power supply, providing flexibility of use. It meets the requirements of PN-EN 61557.
