Insulation Resistance Tester with MIC-5005 Calibration Certificate WMPLMIC5005

Advanced insulation diagnostics up to 15 TΩ

The MIC-5005 instrument is a professional solution for installers and service technicians who need to accurately assess the condition of insulation in low-voltage and medium-voltage installations. The device stands out with its ability to generate a test voltage in a wide range from 50 to 5000 V, allowing the measurement conditions to be adapted to the specific type of object being tested – from small control cables to large motors or transformers. A key feature here is flexibility: the user can select one of the preset levels (e.g., 100, 250, 500 V) or set any value with a 10 V step (up to 1 kV) or 25 V step (above 1 kV), eliminating the need to own multiple different meters.

The maximum measurable insulation resistance reaches an impressive 15 TΩ, making this instrument useful even in cases of very high-quality insulation where standard devices might indicate "range exceeded". High current output (up to 3 mA) ensures rapid charging of objects with large capacitance, shortening measurement time and increasing field work efficiency. Importantly, for safety, after each test – regardless of whether the time was programmed or interrupted manually – the device automatically discharges the tested object, eliminating the risk of electric shock from residual charge on capacitors or long cable lines.

Analytical functions and safety in difficult conditions

The value of the insulation resistance measurement alone is often insufficient for diagnosing the causes of failures. The MIC-5005 offers a range of additional analytical functions, such as determining dielectric absorption coefficients (DAR, PI) and the dielectric discharge index (DD). These allow for an assessment not only of the current insulation condition but also of its degree of aging or moisture ingress. The device also features a stepped voltage measurement mode (SV), which is particularly useful for testing large electrical machines. All these data are displayed digitally on a large LCD screen, with the result provided in real time along with the leakage current value.

Work safety in an industrial environment is ensured through the use of advanced digital filters and high-class accessories. The meter is highly resistant to electromagnetic interference, allowing the use of measurement leads up to 20 meters long without loss of reading precision. The leads and probes supplied with the device meet rigorous durability standards (up to 11 kV for the leads), and the device casing has an IP54 protection rating (IP67 with the cover closed), protecting the electronics against dust and splashes during work in difficult atmospheric conditions.

Ease of operation and data archiving

For a professional, measurement accuracy is not the only priority; speed of execution and the ability to analyze results later are equally important. The MIC-5005 is equipped with built-in memory with a capacity of 990 cells (totaling up to 11880 entries), allowing the storage of results from a full day's work without the need for manual note-taking. These data can then be easily transferred to a PC via USB cable or wirelessly via the optional OR-1 Bluetooth adapter, facilitating the creation of service reports and technical audits.

The device is powered both from the mains and from built-in batteries, ensuring operation even in locations without access to an electrical outlet. The large display and backlit keypad facilitate operation in poorly lit technical spaces or basements. The entire set is transported in a convenient carrying case that protects the meter and accessories during transport between sites.

In practice, this means the ability to perform measurements at test voltages from 50 V up to 5 kV, with precise step adjustment (1 V steps up to 1 kV and 25 V steps above that value). The instrument handles insulation resistance up to 15 TΩ, and themaximum measurement current is 3 mA, which is crucial when testing objects with large capacitance. All results are stored in internal memory (up to 990 sets), and the measurement process is supported by functions such as DAR, PI, and DD. The device is also characterized by high interference resistance, allowing operation with long leads (up to 20 m), and meets the requirements of protection class IP54 (IP67 with the cover closed). All measurements comply with electrical safety standards (including PN-EN 61326), and
