Advanced insulation control in difficult conditions

The MIC-5050 instrument is a professional tool designed for precise testing of insulation condition in electrical installations, motors, transformers, and cables. Its key advantage is the ability to operate in environments rich in strong electromagnetic fields, where other devices might fail due to induced voltages reaching up to 500 V. This enables obtaining reliable results even at power stations with voltages of 765 kV and higher. The device offers a wide insulation resistance measurement range, reaching up to 20 TΩ, allowing for the assessment of even the most demanding objects.

Measurement flexibility and analytical functions

A key element of the design is the ability to smoothly adjust the test voltage. The user can select standard values (100, 250, 500, 1000, 2500, or 5000 V) or set any voltage within the 50–5000 V range with a precision of 10 or 25 V. Such flexibility allows adapting measurement conditions to the specifics of the tested insulating material without the need for additional accessories. The instrument not only measures resistance but also:

• Displays continuous leakage current and actual measurement voltage during the test.
• Allows calculation of dielectric absorption coefficients (AB1, AB2), polarization index (PI), and dielectric dissipation factor (DD).
• Offers a burn-in measurement function and adjustable test duration (up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds).
• Features an acoustic signal every 5 seconds, facilitating manual creation of time characteristics without the need to constantly monitor the display.

It is worth noting that the device automatically discharges the capacitance of the measured object after the measurement is completed, significantly increasing operator safety. Additionally, the built-in protection against measuring live objects protects the instrument from damage in case of operational error.

Graphic display and data management

A major asset for installers is the clear 5.7-inch graphic display, which presents results as numbers and real-time graphs. The backlit keyboard facilitates work in poorly lit areas (e.g., underground switchgear). Measurement data is stored in the device's memory – it is possible to save up to 10 000 results of each measurement type along with descriptions of points, objects, or customer names.

Saved results can be easily transferred to a computer via USB interface or wirelessly via Bluetooth®, allowing for immediate generation of technical documentation without the risk of transcription errors from the field. The instrument operates reliably thanks to Li-Ion battery power supported by the mains with a built-in fast charger, ensuring continuous operation throughout the working day. For field measurements, the instrument supports two-wire and three-wire methods using cables up to 20 m long.

The instrument meets rigorous safety standards (measurement category CAT III 1000 V / CAT IV 600 V) and standards for insulation resistance testers (PN-EN 61557). The set includes a calibration certificate, which is essential for quality audits and legal metrology verification in maintenance departments of large industrial plants. Thanks to its compact housing with an IP67 protection rating (with the cover closed), the device is resistant to dust and water splashes during field work.
