Fire emergency power disconnect switch – a key safety element

This manual push-button fire emergency power disconnect switch PWP1, designed for surface mounting, is used to immediately cut off the power supply in the event of a fire. Its purpose is to disconnect the building from the electrical power source during rescue operations, minimizing the risk of electric shock and facilitating the work of the fire brigade. The device is particularly important in buildings with a volume of over 1000 m³ or containing explosion-hazardous zones.

Functionality and application

The PWP1 switch should be installed near the main entrance to the building or the connection point, with clear signage. Its operation involves cutting off the power supply to all circuits, except those powering installations and devices necessary during a fire (e.g., emergency lighting, alarm systems). The kit includes a self-adhesive label with the inscription "Fire emergency power disconnect switch", making it easier to identify the device. It can also be used as a standard fire disconnect switch, requiring the placement of an appropriate information plate above it.

Signaling and technical parameters

Equipped with dual LED signaling (green and red), the switch informs about its operating status: a green diode indicates the operating state (interruption of power supply), and a red one – the monitoring state (switch activation). When the glass is broken, the red diode goes out, and the green one lights up, signaling the power disconnection. The LEDs are terminated with a connection box and require separate power supply – preferably before the switch – for the signaling to function correctly. The design with two LEDs requires a minimum of 4 wires for connection. The device is characterized by a degree of protection IP65, which ensures resistance to dust and moisture. It is made of plastic and has dimensions of 113 x 113 x 52 mm. It has a CNBOP-PIB-KOT-2019/0110-1014 issue 2 certificate and a National Certificate of Conformity No. 063-UWB-0181. The rated insulation voltage is 500V, and the rated continuous current is 10A.
