Automatic air vent for solar installations – no need for a manual shut‑off valve

The Spirotop Solar AutoClose air vent is specially designed for solar systems where the fluid temperature can reach 180 °C and pressure up to 10 bar. Its key advantage? The valve closes automatically when steam appears in the circuit – no additional shut‑off valve has to be installed upstream. This means fewer components, fewer failure points, and a lower risk of heating‑fluid leakage.

The valve is made of Viton – a material resistant to high temperatures and aggressive media. A TPX float ensures stable operation even when the fluid density changes. The brass body and cover are corrosion‑resistant, and the chamber design protects the mechanism from contaminants – important for long‑term use in glycol‑based systems.

Mixtures containing more than 50 % glycol must not be used. Higher glycol content alters the fluid’s physical properties, affecting the float’s operation and potentially causing improper valve closure.

The closing temperature is 100 °C – i.e., when steam starts to form in the upper part of the system (e.g., in the collector), the valve closes automatically, preventing loss of the fluid. When the temperature drops again, the valve reopens and releases the trapped air.

Dimensions are standard: ½‑inch threaded connection (G 1/2"), height 112 mm, diameter 65 mm. Install at the highest point of the circuit – as with any air vent – but here you don’t need an extra shut‑off valve or its maintenance.

Compliant with PED 2014/68/EU, the unit has passed a leak‑tightness test. No leakage occurs even after years of operation – confirmed by practical tests in hundreds of installations across Europe.
