Pressure protection in closed heating systems
Safety valve 2115.20.154 acts as a membrane protective mechanism, which opens automatically at a pressure of 4.5 bar to regulate excess in liquid‑fed installations. It is mainly intended to protect closed domestic hot water heaters, where sudden pressure spikes — e.g., due to overheating or lack of expansion — can cause damage.
It is installed vertically, with the inlet at the bottom, which ensures proper membrane operation and eliminates the risk of clogging by deposits. It requires no maintenance provided the medium does not contain sticky substances or abrasive particles.
Acceptable medium and operating conditions
It can be used in installations with water, steam, air or other neutral, non‑sticky liquids. Maximum operating temperature is 110 °C — no higher. When using a water‑glycol mixture, the glycol content must not exceed 50 %. With such a composition the valve still performs its protective function, but it is advisable to verify compatibility with the tank volume — using the manufacturer’s selection program is recommended.
Discharge and system matching
The discharge value for this setting (4.5 bar) with a 3/4" connection is approximately 3.4 m³/h — sufficient for tanks with a capacity from 200 to 1000 dm³. For larger installations (over 1000 dm³) it is worth considering a valve with a larger connection diameter or a higher opening pressure setting. The valve has a PZH certification (no. B.BK.60110.0435.2024), confirming its compliance with Polish safety requirements for pressure equipment.
