Pressure protection for closed heating systems
Safety valve 2115.40.156 with a setpoint of 7.0 bar is used to protect closed domestic‑water heaters and other pressurised liquid systems from damage caused by over‑pressure. It operates on a diaphragm principle – when the set pressure is exceeded it opens automatically, releasing excess medium, and then closes again after the pressure drops.
Installation must be vertical, with the inlet at the bottom – this is the only correct configuration that ensures operation in accordance with the design. It must not be installed horizontally or “upside‑down” – incorrect installation leads to malfunction or leaking, which does not indicate a valve defect but an installation error.
For which media and conditions is it intended?
The valve operates safely in installations with water, air and neutral non‑adhesive substances – including water‑glycol mixtures up to 50 % concentration. Maximum operating temperature is 110 °C – do not exceed this limit, even briefly. At higher temperatures the diaphragm and seals lose elasticity, resulting in loss of tightness.
A 7 bar setpoint is typical for larger tanks (over 1000 dm³), where the standard 4–6 bar does not provide sufficient discharge capacity. DIN tables give exact relationships between tank volume and connection diameter – for DN50 (G 1½") and a 7 bar setpoint the valve can discharge more than 47 m³/h of water at full opening.
Construction and durability
The housing is made of brass or bronze – resistant to corrosion in humid heating installations. Internal parts, including the spring, are coated with a galvanic coating, preventing oxidation and sticking of moving parts. The diaphragm and seals are made of material resistant to ageing and high temperature – they are not standard rubber but a specialised elastomer designed for long‑term pressure service.
The setpoint cannot be changed – the valve is designed as a single‑set element. This intentional solution prevents random “pressure adjustment” by the installer, which would be unsafe. If a different value is required, replace the valve with the appropriate catalogue number.
All models of this type have PZH certification and meet DIN requirements – meaning they are approved for use in heating and sanitary systems throughout Poland.
