90° Elbow with SC-Contur – Solution for 18 mm Pipe Systems
Bronze elbow with a monolithic construction and pre-installed EPDM seal, designed for installation in Sanpress systems. One side features a press fitting, the other a push-fit connection, enabling flexible adaptation to existing installations without the need for additional components. Both ends have an identical outer diameter of 18 mm, compatible with system pipes of this dimension, eliminating the need for reducers.
All connection surfaces remain in their raw state – they are neither painted nor coated with any protective layers. This is not an error but a deliberate design choice: it ensures direct metal-to-metal contact during pressing, providing a uniform and reliable seal when using the appropriate tool. The EPDM seal is resistant to temperatures from -25°C to 85°C in water installations and up to 110°C in heating systems – a sufficiently wide range for most domestic and commercial applications.
A working pressure of up to 16 bar at 20°C means the component can be used even in high-pressure systems – from standard water supply installations to industrial applications. Compliance with standards for permanent installations (e.g., KIWA) confirms its suitability for permanent systems.
Installation and Safety
The component must be installed exclusively using the appropriate Sanpress pressing tool – manual or threaded installation is not possible. SC-Contur provides visible verification: if the connection is not properly pressed, it will become apparent as a leak during the initial filling of the installation – there are no "silent" errors. This is a key feature for installers: pressure testing of all connections is unnecessary; observation during initial commissioning is sufficient.
Connection lengths: 40 mm (press fitting) and 43 mm (push-fit) – these are precise values that determine the required pipe length between components. There is no room for estimation. The geometric dimensions of the elbow (total length ~58 mm) allow for smooth flow direction changes without creating "bottlenecks" or resistance points.
Applications
Primarily intended for permanent installations: potable water, heating, rainwater, and compressed air. Not suitable for flammable gases or aggressive media. Suitable for both concealed and exposed installations – the bronze material is corrosion-resistant and requires no additional surface protection. In practice: if you have 18 mm pipes and need a right-angle turn, this elbow is the only sensible choice.
