Direct pipe-to-thread connection without the need for pressing

This Sanpress system component is a double SC-Contur coupling that solves the problem of connecting 28 mm diameter copper pipes to installations with internal threads. Thanks to the V-contour (Viega) and its specific design, installation is performed mechanically – simply tighten the nut with a wrench, eliminating the need for pressing tools at this specific point. This is crucial during modernizations or in hard-to-reach locations where using a press is impossible.

The material is bronze (rotguss), ensuring corrosion resistance and high mechanical strength in typical water and heating installations. Inside the component, a flat EPDM rubber seal is used, guaranteeing leak-tightness under a working pressure of up to 16 bar at 20°C. It is important to note that the maximum operating temperature for this material is 110°C, making it suitable not only for cold water but also for central heating circuits.

Application and versatility in sanitary installations

Product model 2260 serves as a transition between a 28 mm copper pipe and a 3/4 inch thread (DN20). Both sides of the component are adapted for pipes with an outer diameter of 28 mm, simplifying component selection within the system. One side is a compression fitting designed for copper pipe (protected against damage during installation), while the other is an internal thread (IG) with a nominal diameter of 3/4 inch.

Thanks to this solution, the installer can quickly mount a valve, radiator, or other fitting directly onto the copper pipe without the need for additional reducers or adapters. The component is one-piece and does not include a drain valve or air vent – its sole function is to provide a leak-tight and durable connection between two different types of connections.

Construction, operating conditions, and key properties

The solid bronze body ensures resistance to potable water and heating media, while the flat EPDM sealing performs reliably across a wide temperature range without rapid aging due to thermal cycles. The overall shape is straight with a bend angle of 0°, and the total length is 95 mm, facilitating planning of the installation space.

In practice, this allows for safe operation at a working pressure of up to 16 bar at an ambient temperature of 20°C, withstanding media temperatures up to 110°C. The connection is adapted for pipes with an outer diameter of 28 mm on both sides (one side compression fitting, the other internal thread), enabling flexible connection of piping systems with traditional threaded fittings without additional adapters. Installation relies on tightening the nut with a wrench, which is significantly faster than traditional pressing in hard-to-reach locations.
