Application and Function in Heating Systems
The 1500-liter buffer tank, designed for vertical installation, is a key component in modern heating systems, particularly where significant fluctuations in heat demand occur. Constructed from black steel, this device serves as a thermal energy storage unit, enabling more efficient operation of the heat source—whether it is a solid fuel boiler, a heat pump, or a solar installation. Thanks to the built-in heat exchanger coil (in the SPU-W model), the tank allows for effective utilization of energy from solar collectors to heat water in the main circuit.
It is important to note that this specific model is intended exclusively for use in closed boiler systems. The absence of internal anti-corrosion protection is due to the fact that in such systems, the water circuit is oxygen-free, which naturally protects the steel from corrosion. Attempting to use it in an open system could lead to rapid tank failure.
Construction and Thermal Insulation
A key structural element of this buffer tank is the solid insulation made of polyurethane foam with a thickness of 100 mm. This insulation layer thickness significantly reduces heat losses to the surroundings, directly translating into lower operating costs and maintaining stable water temperatures for extended periods. The tank's outer jacket is covered with a layer of synthetic material (polyester fleece), providing an aesthetic appearance and additional mechanical protection.
To facilitate logistics and on-site installation, the outer casing along with the insulation has been designed to be removable. This is a crucial feature for installers working in spaces with limited access or narrow corridors—it allows transport of the tank itself without risking damage to the insulation during handling. Once on-site, the casing can be reinstalled.
Compliance with Standards and Operating Conditions
The device has been manufactured in accordance with rigorous European standards:
- Construction compliant with DIN 4753 for domestic hot water and buffer tanks.
- Intended for heating systems compliant with DIN 12828.
This model features a built-in "glattrohr" (smooth pipe) heat exchanger, used to connect the heat source (e.g., solar collectors). Thanks to this solution, there is no need for additional external heat exchangers in simple solar systems.
The large capacity of 1500 liters ensures the necessary thermal inertia for single-family homes and smaller public utility buildings, stabilizing the operation of the heat source. The steel construction guarantees resistance to high working pressure while maintaining closed-loop heating system conditions. The 100 mm thick insulation effectively minimizes heat losses even during long interruptions in the energy source operation. The possibility of removing the jacket facilitates transport through narrow passages and installation in hard-to-reach locations without damaging the insulation layer. The built-in smooth heat exchanger provides a ready-made integrative solution for solar installations, eliminating the need for additional external accessories.
This device does not contain built-in electrical components or controllers—its sole function is the storage and distribution of thermal energy in accordance with the physical principles of heating fluid flow. Installation and initial commissioning must be carried out by a qualified installation company in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and local building regulations.
