Wolf SPU-2-4000 Buffer Tank 2484708
Application and Function in Heating Systems
A buffer tank with a capacity of 4000 liters (exactly 3950 l) is a key component for large heating systems where smoothing the operation of the heat source is necessary. The device serves to store excess thermal energy, which helps avoid frequent boiler start-up and stop cycles. As a result, the boiler operates within its optimal efficiency range, leading to reduced fuel consumption and extended lifespan of the entire installation.
This model is intended exclusively for closed heating systems free of oxygen. Therefore, it does not feature internal anti-corrosion protection – the steel construction requires maintaining appropriate water parameters in the circuit to prevent corrosion. It is a solution dedicated to systems operating with solid fuel boilers, heat pumps, and solar collectors.
Construction, Insulation, and Installation
The tank body is made of black steel, ensuring high mechanical strength while maintaining a reasonable weight (approx. 486 kg). The entire unit is covered with 100 mm thick polyurethane foam thermal insulation, which effectively reduces heat loss to the surroundings. The outer jacket is made of silver-colored plastic.
To facilitate transport and installation in hard-to-reach locations (e.g., through narrow passages), the insulation along with the jacket can be removed. Upon delivery to the installation site, this layer is reinstalled, restoring the tank's full thermal tightness.
The device dimensions are significant and require proper preparation of the installation location: the diameter is 1500 mm without insulation or 1700 mm including the insulation layer, and the height is 2590 mm or 2670 mm respectively. During transport, a tilt angle resulting in a maximum height of 3150 mm must be considered. The device is equipped with eight 2-inch pipe connections (internal thread), four temperature sensor sockets (½ inch), and one 1¼-inch ventilation connection. The maximum operating pressure is 3 bar, and the heating water temperature should not exceed 95°C.
Compliance with Standards and Safety
The device has been manufactured in accordance with DIN 4753 standard for heating tanks and meets the requirements of DIN 12828 standard for heating installations. Such certifications guarantee that the tank is suitable for use in professional central heating systems.
It should be noted that installation, commissioning, and servicing of this type of large tank must be carried out exclusively by authorized personnel possessing appropriate qualifications in sanitary and heating installations. Improper connection or disregard for the manufacturer's guidelines may lead to equipment damage or safety hazards for users. Before installation, it is advisable to verify the compatibility of all system components with the manufacturer's requirements and current building regulations.
