Three-phase motor starting control – star-delta switch PCM-08

The PCM-08 star-delta switch is a reliable device used to automatically control contactors in starting circuits for three-phase motors. Its main task is to measure starting times and ensure an appropriate break between switching the contactors from a star to a delta configuration. This solution is particularly useful for motors with a power of more than 4-5 kW, where reducing starting currents is crucial for the safety and efficiency of the installation.

Application and functionality

PCM-08 is used in three-phase motor controllers where the winding switching method is used. This allows reducing starting currents, protecting both the motor and the rest of the electrical installation. The device has two independent relay outputs, the operation of which is regulated by potentiometers P1–P3. This allows precise setting of the starting time in the star circuit and the time delay before switching to the delta circuit. Thanks to this, the starting process takes place smoothly and safely.

Mounting and signaling

The PCM-08 switch is adapted for mounting on a TH35 rail inside switchboards. The front panel is equipped with LED indicators that inform about the device status: a green LED indicates power supply, and a red one – operating status. This facilitates quick diagnostics and control over the motor starting process. The device is powered by 230V AC.
