Onninen.pl is also an online gardening store, where both professionals and amateur gardeners will find all the necessary garden tools - including axes for various applications. We offer both splitting axes and carpenter's axes. See the available axe models, learn the differences between the individual types and choose a tool suited to the tasks performed.

Carpenter's axe - irreplaceable in precise woodworking

A carpenter's axe is one of the basic types of axes. It is characterized by a compact, handy, lightweight, ergonomic design. It has a strong blade and a solid handle. As the name suggests, carpenter's axes are used primarily in carpentry and forestry work. They are used mainly by carpenters, roofers and sculptors. A carpenter's axe is held close to the blade. The straight cutting edge allows for precise, almost artistic woodworking (chopping, planing, carving) and even cutting along the entire length - without unwanted splitting of the material.

Splitting axe – a basic tool for chopping wood

If you are looking for a tool for cutting branches and trunks and chopping wood, e.g. for firewood, choose a splitting axe. It has a straight, long handle and a specific head. This design allows for free swings and striking the wood with great force. A special wedge prevents the blade from getting stuck in the wood and allows for chopping off larger pieces in one go. Splitting axes come in various versions. Individual models differ primarily in the length of the handle, weight, material composition and construction. In gardening, e.g. related to the care of shrubs and trees or cutting wood, a lightweight and compact splitting axe will work great. Axes equipped with steel, hand-forged blades are worth considering, because they offer increased durability and resistance to damage.

Choose an axe or a hatchet?

Few gardening and DIY enthusiasts know that every axe is an axe, but not every axe is an axe. Not all axes can be used to chop wood. An axe is usually smaller than an axe, has a shorter handle and a wider blade. It usually also has more functions. Depending on the circumstances, it can be used as an axe, hammer, club, mattock, knife, or even... an ice axe.
