This three-pole ABB MS116-20 motor protection switch, with a rated current of 20A, is a solid solution for protecting electric motors. Designed for both professional and end-user applications, it provides effective protection against overload and short circuit. Its compact dimensions (45 mm width, 97.8 mm height and 85.4 mm depth) allow for easy mounting in distribution boards and control cabinets.

Construction and functionality

The MS116-20 switch features a thermal-magnetic tripping method, which means it reacts to both temperature increases caused by overload and sudden current surges in the event of a short circuit. This ensures comprehensive protection of the motor and electrical installation. The overload trip release setting range is from 16 to 20 A, allowing for precise adjustment to the load characteristics. Additionally, the switch has phase failure sensitivity – an important function that protects the motor from damage in the event of loss of one of the supply phases. The rated short-circuit breaking capacity (Icu) is as high as 16 kA at 400 V AC, guaranteeing safety even in difficult working conditions.
