Anti-freeze valve – protecting the heat pump from the effects of frost

The AAV 300 anti-freeze valve is a key element protecting heating and cooling systems with an air-to-water monobloc heat pump from damage caused by freezing of the medium. Mounted on the return and supply pipes, close to the outdoor unit, it protects the internal components of the heat pump and the entire installation in the event of a loss of circulation – e.g. during a power failure. Thanks to this, even at sub-zero ambient temperatures, the risk of harmful ice formation is minimized.

Construction and application

The AAV 300 valve is designed for reliable protection and ease of use. Made of dezincification-resistant brass (DZR), it ensures durability and corrosion resistance. Its operation is based on the automatic opening of the medium outlet when the medium temperature drops below 3°C, which prevents freezing. When the temperature rises above 4°C, the valve closes automatically. This simple but effective solution avoids costly repairs and downtime of the heating system.

The valve has G1 1/4 inch connections, making it compatible with most standard installations. The Kvs flow rate of 70 m³/h guarantees an adequate medium flow, and the PN10 pressure class ensures safe operation under typical operating conditions. The seal made of ethylene-propylene-diene monomer rubber (EDPM) ensures tightness and long-term reliability. If necessary, the thermostat insert can be easily replaced (Art.-No. 17 000 02), which extends the life of the valve and reduces operating costs.
