Construction and application

The cable uses single-mode (SM) optical fibers of type OS2 with a diameter of 9/125 μm, which ensures high transmission parameters and minimizes signal loss. The cable construction is based on a central core made of plastic surrounded by loose tubes containing optical fibers. The inside of the tubes is filled with a hydrophobic gel or non-woven fabric, protecting against moisture. The whole is protected with plastic and aramid fibers, which constitute an anti-rodent barrier. The green tube serves as a directional function. Cable markings may vary depending on the country – Z-XOTktsdD and A-DQ(ZN)B2Y markings are common.
